CAIRNS Director Interviewed for Medicine Knoll Video

Monday, February 3, 2020

South Dakota Public Broadcasting’s associate producer, Michael Zimny, traveled from Rapid City to Wingsprings to interview the CAIRNS director for a video feature he is developing. The feature is about a snake effigy that was created by arranging rocks and stones in an undulating outline of a rattlesnake that is over 300 feet long. It is located on a long flat butte - Medicine Knoll - east of Pierre, South Dakota. The CAIRNS director had surveyed this and a handful of other eastern South Dakota “boulder mosaics” over 30 years ago as a graduate course project.
