Two LEAP Exhibits at Wagner Community School

Friday, January 19, 2024

Friday morning the CAIRNS director left the Lacreek District of Pine Ridge Reservation, drove the west-to-east breadth of Rosebud Reservation, continued on crossing the Mnishoshe Wakpa (Missouri River) into Yankton Sioux Indian Reservation and before noon local time arrived at the capital, Wagner.  After lunch, Jimmy, Frannie, and Deanna (R-L) helped install the Takuwe community exhibit in the Wagner Community School library and the Lakota Emergence community exhibit in the school’s theater. The exhibits, which were created under the Lakota Educational Art Project initiative, will be on display all next week. Jimmy and Frannie are staff at the school whereas Deanna, who used to teach there, volunteered to help give tours of the exhibits.
